Main entrance Great Russell Street
There is a lift to the left of the forecourt stairs up to the main
entrance,
From the main entrance there is level access to most of the ground
floor galleries and facilities. The public restaurant and café may
be reached by twelve steps up from room 12, or by the staff lift
opposite the public lavatories.
Access to the upper floors from the main entrance is by stairs or
the staff lift in room 6, next to the special exhibition gallery.
Montague Place/ North entrance
The north lift, from the Montague Place entrance, has been widened
for easier wheelchair entry, and allows access to the Prints and
Drawings and Japanese temporary exhibitions galleries (rooms
90/92-94) and the Asian gallery (room 33). Level access from this
section to the rest of the museum is on level 3 from room 66.Lift
access to the Korean Gallery (room 67) is by the north lift to level
2, then via thestaff lift in room 33a A staff escort is available
from the north entrance cloakroom.
Accessible lavatories are located on
the ground floor near the public restaurant, room 12, or in room 6,
the special exhibitions gallery.
Limited Parking for disabled users only
is available in the Museum's forecourt. This can be
arranged by telephoning the Information Desk on 0207 323 8299;

Guide and companion dogs are welcome.
Dog bowls are available from the Information Desk.
Wheelchairs are available at both
entrances, free of charge. A puncture repair kit is available from
the Information Desk.
The First Aid
room
has level access and is on the ground floor, off room 12.
Large print versions
of the Information and Plans Leaflets and selected gallery guides
are available from the Information Desk and the Education Department.
A sound enhancement system with
portable induction loops is available for most gallery talks and to
support sign-interpreted tours.
Sign-interpreted talks are an ongoing
programme and details are available in the Events leaflet, from the
Information Desk and the Education Department.
A sound-guide system for the Parthenon
Galleries is available in room 18, which includes a touch section
for all visitors, the Tiresias Project.
Touch tours of the Roman sculpture
galleries (rooms 83-85) and the Egyptian sculpture gallery (room 4)
are available from the Information Desk for visually impaired
visitors, with tape and large print guides. Sculptures which may be
touched are marked with Braille labels.
Magnifying glasses may be loaned for a
£5 deposit from the Information Desk.

Open Daily 10 am to 6 pm, Wednesday until
9pm. Please see the

Closed 1 January, 24–26 December.
Quietest times to visit are early week-day morning or late
night Wednesday.
Rooms are subject to unavoidable short-term closure,
without notice. Visitors wishing to see particular paintings are
advised to telephone National Gallery Information on 020 7747 2885
beforehand.

Railway:
Charing Cross Station
Underground:
Charing Cross (Northern and Bakerloo Lines) and Leicester Square (Northern
and Piccadilly Lines) are closest to the Gallery.
Embankment (Northern, Bakerloo, District and Circle Lines) and
Piccadilly Circus (Bakerloo and Piccadilly lines) are slightly
further away.
None of these stations have lifts.
Bus:
Buses on the National Gallery pavement: 3, 12, 24, 29, 53, 88, 159,
176.
Around Trafalgar Square: 6, 9, 11, 13, 15, 23, x53, 77a, 91, 109,
139.
(NB 3, 88 and 139 are adapted to take wheelchairs.)
Car:
Nearest public car park is in Whitcomb Street and also some limited
on-street parking nearby.
Visitors with a Blue, Orange or White disabled parking badge can
book a parking space at the rear of the National Gallery, close to
the Education Centre Entrance in Orange Street. To book telephone
